Bedford Academy IN THE NEWS Bedford Academy has been described as a "parent's dream." DAILY NEWS - APRIL 17 2003 The safe, positive educational climate is one of the key reasons this private Bedford school has generated such praise. With a maximum class size of 18 students Academy teachers are able to devote considerable individual attention towards each student. As a result, a personal connection is quickly made between the student and teacher. The academic needs of the child are identified promptly and an individualized course of instruction is put in motion. The students receive immediate recognition for their accomplishments and are constantly provided with incentive to reach their full potential. The enthusiastic staff embraces the concept of providing each child with individual attention while concentrating on the students own learning style. The individual differences each child brings to the classroom are valued. The small school atmosphere enables all Academy teachers to interact with every student. Such a broad base of teacher student contact and familiarity creates a tremendous sense of security for the children who attend Bedford Academy. This educational sanctuary allows the children to focus solely on the enhanced curriculum of the Academy and take full advantage of provided above grade level opportunities. Beyond the prescribed curriculum, Bedford Academy provides a broad base of extra curricular activities. A dynamic Fine Arts Program introduces the students to drama, dance and a number of artistic mediums. The Band program is balanced with individual lessons in piano and voice. Athletics are a vital part of the Academy experience within an ambitious intramural program that includes both team and individual sports with an emphasis on recreational activities as well. Bedford Academy's goal is to provide each child with a foundation for a life of learning and open the door to a world of possibilities.
